Active Shooter Response Class

Oro Valley Police Department Logo

Active shooter incidents are often unpredictable and evolve very quickly. In the midst of the chaos, anyone can take action to reduce casualties and increase their chance of survival. The Oro Valley Police Department’s mission is to educate and prepare the public to enhance preparedness through a "whole community" approach by providing “Active Shooter Response” classes.

The "Active Shooter Response" class provides civilians valuable strategies to increase the survival rate for citizens who find themselves in the midst of such a traumatic event. The class provides a brief history of active shooter incidents in the United States, a three pronged approach to surviving such an event and concludes with what to expect when law enforcement arrives on scene.

It is important to remember that an active shooter incident can occur anywhere, not just in schools, churches or government facilities.

If you would like more information or are interested in hosting a class in the future, please contact Officer Brian Kleinberg at 520-229-2900 or bkleinberg@orovalleyaz.gov.
