ORO VALLEY, Ariz. (September 15, 2024) – On Sept. 14, 2024, the Oro Valley Police Department received a report of threats towards Canyon Del Oro High School via an Instagram post. Amphitheater School District also received several anonymous tips indicating concern for the threat.

The post is being investigated by OVPD, and the owner of the account was identified as a 15-year-old student. The student was located and arrested for making a terroristic threat and interference/disruption of an education facility. The student admitted to creating the post but denied any intention to threaten or harm anyone. The investigation is ongoing and will continue until all information is determined. OVPD and Amphi Schools take threats very seriously and will thoroughly investigate all threats received.

We appreciate the excellent partnership we have with Amphitheater School District, which makes handling incidents like this more efficient. The safety and security of the schools and all those that attend, work and visit is our top priority. Out of an abundance of caution and to instill a sense of security, students and staff may notice an additional presence of law enforcement at CDO this week.
