Distinguished Budget Presentation Award
For the 14th year in a row, the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) has awarded the Town of Oro Valley the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its July 1, 2021, budget. The award represents a significant achievement by the Town of Oro Valley, reflecting the commitment of Town Council and staff to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting.
To receive the budget award, the Town had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. These guidelines are designed to assess how well an entity's budget serves as:
- a policy document
- a financial plan
- an operations guide
- a communications device
To receive the award, budget documents must be rated "proficient" in all four categories, and in the 14 mandatory criteria within those categories. There are over 1,700 participants in the Budget Awards Program.
“We are humbled and honored to again be recognized for this prestigious award, and especially the special recognition for performance measures which is something our team has been trying to achieve for years,” said Chief Financial Officer, David Gephart. “It reflects the many hours of effort and hard work of an extremely qualified team in producing a well-organized budget document our Town can take pride in.”
About the GFOA
The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) advances excellence in government finance by providing best practices, professional development, resources and practical research for more than 21,000 members and the communities they serve.
Popular Annual Financial Report
The Town of Oro Valley is pleased to announce the publication of its annual reader-friendly financial report for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2021.
Each year, the Town produces an Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR), which outlines the Town’s financial position and operating activities and includes audited financial statements. However, due to its length and scope, the ACFR is not very reader-friendly. To make the Town's financial information more accessible to the public, Oro Valley publishes the Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR) annually.
The PAFR includes a summary of accomplishments, net assets, activities, revenues, expenditures, debt and financial ratings and a snapshot of historical trends in these areas.
