WHEREAS, the Town of Oro Valley is honored to have the presence of the United States Navy in our community. The State of Arizona is the home of record to 8,449 Navy active-duty Sailors; 1,208 Navy Reserve Sailors and 8,370 Navy retirees; and

WHEREAS, the citizens of Oro Valley and the State of Arizona take great pride in supporting our namesake vessels USS Tucson (SSN 770), USS Arizona (SSN 803), and USS Gabrielle Giffords (LCS 10); and

WHEREAS, Tucson Navy Week hosts special events and programs for the state to increase the community’s knowledge and understanding of their Navy and its global mission; and

WHEREAS, Tucson Navy Week engages the Tucson community through acts of service, education and entertainment to showcase the breadth of the Navy’s fields of expertise and service to the American people.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Joseph C. Winfield, Mayor of Oro Valley, do hereby proclaim the week of February 17-23, 2025, as:

TUCSON NAVY WEEK

in the Town of Oro Valley.
